| Discipline | Focus | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Physical Therapy (PT) | Movement, strength, balance, mobility | Walking, transfers, stairs, fall prevention |
| Occupational Therapy (OT) | Daily activities, functional independence, adaptation | Dressing, bathing, cooking, adaptive equipment |
| Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) | Communication, cognition, and swallowing | Aphasia, dysphagia, speech and language difficulties |
CNA Responsibilities:
- Reinforce therapy goals through daily care as directed.
- Encourage resident participation and independence.
- Assist with prescribed restorative activities within training.
- Observe and report changes in ability or tolerance.
- Communicate concerns to the nurse and therapy team through approved channels.
Important Considerations
- PT, OT, and SLP roles overlap in some areas.
- CNAs do not independently prescribe therapy or change treatment goals.
- Follow the resident’s individualized care plan.
